Grooming and Skin-Care Tips
for Your Hairless Dog Breed
Follow these six tips to groom your Chinese Crested Terrier, American Hairless Terrier, Xolocuintli, Peruvian Inca Orchid and other hairless dog breeds.
Dog breeds with little to no hair include the Chinese Crested, American Hairless Terrier, Xolocuintli and the Peruvian Inca Orchid. The Chinese Crested comes in two varieties: the powderpuff and the hairless. The hairless variety has hair only on its head, feet and tail and usually has gray and pink skin. The American Hairless Terrier was developed from the Rat Terrier. It has very light hair as a puppy but loses its hair as it matures into a hairless adult. It is available in a variety of skin colors, such as brindle. The Xolo and PIO also come in two coat types, but are more commonly seen in the hairless variety.
Skin care, rather than coat care, is what's necessary for hairless breeds.
Here are grooming and skin-care tips for your hairless dog breed.
For those breeds with small tufts of hair, a soft, natural bristle brush is fine.

4. Trim dog's nails monthly or as needed because they may grow faster then other breeds.
